MD's Update - March 2020

Dear Somfy Business Partners & Friends,
The Autumn issue of Motoreyes is typically full of activities we have planned for the first half of the year, product launches, exhibitions, customer events and the like. However, given the serious situation the world at large now finds itself in regarding COVID-19, all Somfy Oceania external activities are either cancelled or postponed.

The COVID-19 situation is rapidly changing, extremely complex and evolving daily. What I can share with you at this time, from a Somfy perspective, is:

  • The welfare of our Staff, their families and our Customers remains paramount. We have in place protocols and procedures to keep our staff safe, in a secure environment, and to minimise risk, with the adoption of Australian Government health advice, and implementation of WH&S practices implemented by Somfy Group. Staff / people welfare therefore is our first priority and first pillar of SCC (Somfy Care COVID-19).
  • Our second pillar of SCC is Business continuity. We have all essential roles in place – customer service, technical support, supply chain, credit / debtor management, warehouse & logistics and communications connectivity to our sales team. Most of our team including Management are “tele-working” (working from home) and as is practical.
  • The third pillar of SCC, is to do with immediate changes we have made; these may affect you. Please refer to the update below.

Currently there are many very good sources of information regarding COVID-19. Particularly: managing employees, managing workplace safety and employee mental health, and managing digital safety. Go on-line and see for yourself, for those who are members of HIA, their website has particularly good information. The Department of Health is also closely monitoring the situation and providing regular updates and advice on their website.

We are here to support you as best we can during these difficult and challenging times. We will remain positive. Our collective responsibility and actions for the wellbeing of our families, friends and communities will indeed remain when we all emerge from the current COVID-19 crisis. Take care.

Kind Regards,

Stephen Eggleton
