ACT FOR GREEN Update

Since 2015, the SOMFY Group has deployed an ecodesign framework under the ACT FOR GREEN label. This initiative is designed to systematically reduce the environmental footprint of products across their entire lifecycle from raw material extraction to endoflife management, by applying performance requirements that go beyond existing regulatory standards. The program supports SOMFY’s broader commitment to sustainable innovation, responsible manufacturing and measurable environmental performance.

Regulatory Compliance

To strengthen consumer protection and ensure fair competition, the European Directive 2024/825 (published 28/02/2024) introduces new provisions targeting premature obsolescence, misleading environmental claims and non-transparent or unverified sustainability labels. Under this directive, internal or self-declared labels will be prohibited starting 27/09/2026, with financial penalties for organisations that fail to comply.

These evolving regulatory expectations require businesses to adopt verifiable, transparent and standardsbased sustainability practices when communicating product performance and environmental commitments.

Introducing our new Eco-design approach

Our eco-design approach remains firmly in place, even without the 'Act For Green" label.

We have revised our messaging for both the brand and products to enhance visibility and emphasise our dedication to eco-design.

Key statements on the value of Eco-Design by Somfy:

  • SOMFY is the first actor in the industry to implement an eco-design approach based on multicriteria
(low electrical consumption, durability, substances, EPD).

  • With over 200 PEP Ecopassport® sheets, SOMFY is one the largest companies to publish Environmental Product Declarations for motors, providing our customer high valuable environmental data.

  • Our objective remains that 100% of sales in 2030 will apply an eco-designed product approach (vs.74% in 2024).

  • SOMFY doesn't apply the eco-design approach to just one range of products, instead, we work diligently to eco-design all types of motors in order to reduce their environmental impacts.

The Label Changes, Not our Commitment!
