Somfy Celebrates 5 Years of Partnership with Habitat for Humanity

Somfy is proud to be celebrating 5 years of partnership with Habitat for Humanity, as part of Somfy Foundation’s international program. The international NGO helps the Somfy Foundation and the Group’s subsidiaries to identify and orchestrate projects in the various countries where Somfy operates. The aim remains to help the most vulnerable people by contributing to safe housing and decent living conditions.

Globally, Somfy is committed to Corporate Social Responsibility, giving back to the community and lending a hand, not only financially, but through volunteering efforts too.

Locally, Somfy Oceania has completed several projects in NSW since 2016. Ranging from helping to furnish apartments to accommodate the homeless, to renovating emergency housing for women and children escaping domestic violence.

Most recently, Somfy Oceania partnered with Habitat for Humanity as part of their International Women’s Day efforts in March. The volunteers assisted in renovating crisis accommodation for women and children.

Unfortunately, as a result of COVID-19, many of Habitat for Humanity Australia’s volunteering activities were paused. The organisation was also forced to cancel their annual Gala dinner, a major source for their fundraising. Somfy Oceania chose to donate the money paid for the Gala dinner table ($2,250AUD) to help build more homes for people in need.

Subsequently, Somfy Foundation matched this contribution with a larger donation of ($7,000AUD) to Habitat Australia’s Sustainability Fund. The Fund is extremely valuable in assisting Habitat sustain operations, retain their talent, be financially sustainable, and continue supporting communities and projects in Vietnam, Cambodia, Fiji, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal and Australia.

Somfy Oceania and Somfy Foundation are proud to work alongside such a committed organisation that shares the same values and objectives: to fight against poor housing in all its forms, to share, to show solidarity and to help all those in need around the world.
